Check that none of the Ram became dislodged. The system sounds as if it isn't seeing enough physical RAM. But it's unlikely 1GB of RAM would have fallen out... So, can you start from a CD or floppy and run a disk repair utility? >> "Sorry a system error occured. unimplemented trap. restart" More serious, but could just be SCSI voodoo. Take out the CDRW and try it again. Maybe it isn't really set at SCSI=3 or terminated like you think? >> I also installed TOAST and extensions for this drive but it does not help. It will after you get the rest going. >> I recall reading somewhere some issues related with replacing the >> main CD driver on this machine: anybody has an idea or information to >> share? >Does your CD-Tool kit S/W support that CD drive (YAMAHA CRW4416 16x4x4)??? Shouldn't need CDROM ToolKit at all once Toast is in. Toast includes an extension that will read CDs from the burner. But worry about the startup issue first. > ... unlike Apple, who just paid to have special ROMs put on > the CD drives themselves. Kind of. A driver (Apple's) was still necessary, and present for Apple drives. The ROM just allowed the driver to recognize the drive. Part of "controlling the whole widget" as it were, and one of the biggest PITA when putting a new OS on a clone. -David -- Power Computing is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and... 123Inkjets.com <http://lowendmac.com/ad/123inkjets.html> Support Low End Mac <http://lowendmac.com/lists/support.html> Power Computing list info: <http://lowendmac.com/power/list.html> Send list messages to: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To unsubscribe, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> For digest mode, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subscription questions: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> List archive: <http://www.mail-archive.com/powercomputing%40mail.maclaunch.com/> Using a Macintosh?
