Hi Norp, An Apple rep at Fry's recommended that I update my PowerWave 120 only to 8.6 and not to 9 which had just come out. But since then I've upgraded my processor with a Sonnet G3/400mhz and gone on to skip past 8.6 to 9.1 and eventually 10.1.2 with a lot of help from XpOSfacto.
Anyway 9.1 has been stable enough for me although I never was able to get RAM Doubler to work with it. It generally seems faster too than 8.1. The only other regular glitch is that, if I have to leave my computer for several minutes while connected to the internet, Apple Remote Access wants to freeze up forcing me to restart. As for OS X, I'm still mainly using it to play with. The main problem is having only 80mb RAM. That's enough for basic surfing etc although it's just generally slower than 9.1. One thing that really helped speed up my low RAM machine was creating a swap file on a separate hard drive. SwapCop was a real godsend in automating that process. Good luck, Mickey On Friday, March 29, 2002, at 08:20 AM, Patty North wrote: > Hi folks, > > Anybody know whether my PowerWave 120 will operate smoothly if I update > to > OS 8.6?
