Too many variables at stake. I would think that for the PC users it's more
of a question is the correct extension in the filename, although zipping it
first might still ensure extra safety from keeping the file from becoming
mangled through the Internet. You might also try Stuffing it. Even lots of
PC users these days have a version of Stuffit Expander.

When I get this, it's usually because it got mangled during the download.
I'll see this occasionally on things I KNOW I should be able to view, such
as jpegs. Have them zip it or stuff it before sending it to you.

Fancy "professional" slide show software. Do you make presentations? No?
Sell it! Although it may be able to import a variety of image types, using
it mainly for that purpose will be a bit unwieldy. Any normal image
conversions can be done with GraphicConverter, or perhaps one the things you
already have.

It's also possible the other common denominator in both your sending and
receiving problems is the culprit (i.e. your email client?)
