A useful tip, indeed. I'm puzzled, though, why Iomega Tools 3.5 is eager to
make a Rescue Disk from my PowerTower (OS 9.1), but refuses to do so for my
daughter's iMac (also OS 9.1).

Even with the Zip disk clearly selected, the Create Rescue Disk icon on the
Tools menu is greyed out on the two Tools versions I tried on her iMac. I
tried erasing the disk, changing the format from Mac OS Extended to Mac OS
Standard, all to no avail. I then ejected that Zip disk, installed it in the
external Zip on the PowerTower, and the Create Rescue Disk is active and
ready to go.

(I realize this is somewhat off topic, but) Do iMacs have some particularly
weird ROM that makes creating a bootable CD particularly difficult?
