When PowerComputing was shipping, FPM (Fast page mode) was the current
technology that most manufacturers used. EDO is (for lack of a better
description) improved FPM.RAM. In a Power Tower Pro you can use EDO
memory, mixed with the original FPM, however, it will only operate as
FPM memory, so it will not be as fast as an all EDO equipped unit that
was equipped to utilize the faster memory access speed EDO offered.

Bottom line, my PTP happily accepted the recommended EDO RAM I purchased
from OWC. I now have two 64 MB 70ns FPM modules that came with it in
1995, and six 128MB 60ns EDO sticks that came from OWC. It all coexists
happily.
