You have made a good case for acquiring Conflict Catcher. You didn't
mention what OS you were using. Conflict Catcher with its ability to
create multiple sets with only the extensions you need loaded ... solves
many a conflict.

Make a Removed System Items Folder. Inside make a "Removed Extensions
Folder", a "Removed Control Panels" Folder and a "Removed Preferences"
folder. (With all the Ram available these days, folks have forgotten how
a Preferences Folder full of old & defunct Preferences can slow things
down and make programs function Clunky like unto a Pentium 2)

Stick the Apple CD extension in the "Remvd Folder". Also, never throw
things away Willie nilly ... Like the joke about feller making love to a
married woman, with his six guns on, "You never know when you're a'goin
to need 'um."
