It may be that a prior owner forced a non mac dimm into the slot and damaged the slot both physically and electrically. Do you have vacant slots? If so, avoid A1 and if you want interleaving (does it interleave?) avoid B1 as well. Also check your Dimm seating. I have had very similar results with dimms not showing because as I pushed the non-tab end in and as the tab end wen in, the non-tab end raised slightly. Make sure both ends are in completely.
