Yer darn tootin' lots of PowerComputing users have upgraded their MacOS, hell, it's part of the covenant taken on when joining the crowd that changed the political spectrum at Apple by buying clones, especially the best Mac clone made. When that message comes up during the 8.5 / 6 install process ' the hard disk drivers cannot be upgraded ', press the 'ignore this warning' button instead of the 'cancel install' button. The upgrade will then proceed entirely as it should. Once you've got OS8.6 installed, open and install the FWB HDT software and look for the > Devices > 'update drivers' command to update the HD drivers to the newer version of FWB. Be advised you are running a machine that is 'officially unsupported' by Apple past OS 7.5 or so, which is akin to having the political party you voted for winding up the 'official opposition'. fwiw, I've been running OS8.6 with FWB version 2.5.3. on my PTP and PCP for about a year. My buddy RHB has been ploughing through any of the problems associated with upgrading to OS 9, G3/4 and filling every ram slot with the biggest dimms he can find, and I'll be following the white line he laid down through the minefields in the next while....=) Cheers...Michael ' He who hesitates should always buy the newest computer available whenever a new OS is issued, and sell his one year old computer for 1/10 what he paid for it ' - Microsoft Windows Technical Support Group - -- Power Computing is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and... 123Inkjets.com <http://lowendmac.com/ad/123inkjets.html> Support Low End Mac <http://lowendmac.com/lists/support.html> Power Computing list info: <http://lowendmac.com/power/list.html> --> AOL users, remove "mailto:" Send list messages to: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To unsubscribe, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> For digest mode, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subscription questions: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> List archive: <http://www.mail-archive.com/powercomputing%40mail.maclaunch.com/> Using a Mac?
