The answer is yes, and maybe no.

Yes, the 1 MB L2 cache dimm found in the PTP is perfectly compatible with
the 7300-8600 (pre kansas) series Macs, as the mobo's are essentially the
same. This includes the 7500.

However, some of the PTP's use a cache dimm labelled 'workgroup server'
which is physically too tall to be used in the PowerMac 7500. ie, the flip
out right side chassis portion will contact the cache dimm before fully
seating back down in the lock position.

The offending dimm has a horizontal row of ic's above the vertical stacks
on the dimm, which makes the unit about half again as large as the regular
RAM dimms used in the 7500.

There is no harm in trying the cache dimm in the slot, btw, it's strictly a
physical height problem.

In other news, the 1mB cache dimm from the PCP series will not work in the
7300-8600 series Macs as it is a 3.3v unit. The PCP mobo has a jumper which
allows the use of either a 5v or 3.3v cache dimm. The 3.3v unit was used as
a cost saving measure in the PCP's.
The good news is that these dimms should work in the PowerCenters and
PowerCurves as they were all based on the 7200 series 'catalyst' mobo.

Cheers...Michael
