Hello. This question is probably more about the upgrade card than the PCP, but I hope
that's OK.

I have a second-hand PCP 210 which has been upgraded to a G3 with an XLR8 MACh card.
I reformatted the drive, not realizing that this card "needed" special software, which
I don't have the original media for.

I have installed Linux, which is working pretty well for the most part, but it felt
slower than I would have expected. Checking /proc/cpuinfo it looks like the machine
is only running at 195 MHz. I know that the original owner told me it was set at
300-something. So I yanked open the case and compared the switches on the card to the
manual.

It looks like it's set up for a 55 MHz bus and a 7 multiplier (385 Mhz). Now, I
thought the PCP had a 60 MHz bus, so I'm surprised this is even working. Also, why
does the CPU seem to be actually running at only half (approximately) the assigned
speed?

This is when I found out about the XLR8 software. Could this be the problem? I've
emailed XLR8 support but no answer. I see I can DL the software from the web site,
but I need a serial number, which I think I have identified on the card.

If anybody can throw me any leads, that would be great. This is the first clone and
the first processor upgrade I've ever dealt with. I guess the situation is tolerable
as it is (the G3@195 is probably roughly the same as the original 604@210), but if I
can double the performance by really harnessing some of that G3 power it sure would be
great.

Thanks,
Tim
