I hope someone on the list can help as I have pretty much exhausted my
capabilities. I have a six year old Low Profile PowerCenter 150 upgraded
with a Sonnet G3, 350MHz running MacOS 9.1. It has 256 Mb RAM and the
original 2Gb IBM hard drive, CD-ROM drive and floppy drive. It has an
external 4Gb hard drive and CD-RW drive connected to the SCSI port.

I recently upgraded my three empty PCI slots with a two port USB card in
slot A1 (the slot nearest the motherboard), a three port Firewire card
(Belkin F5U503) in slot B1 and an additional (with the built-in Ethernet)
Ethernet card in slot C1. I am having no difficulty with either the USB card
or the Ethernet card but the Firewire connection is giving me fits.

I've tried 4 different external Firewire drives and all have had the same
problem. I can copy a small folder with a few files to the Firewire drive
with no problem but when I try to copy a large number of small files to the
drive it inevitably freezes the computer. I've tried disabling every
extension possible including the Sonnet processor upgrade, resetting the
CUDA button and zapping the PRAM and the computer continues to freeze. I
hope someone has run into this problem before and has a possible solution.
Thanks for any help you can give.
