UGGG! This is getting to be really frustrating! I hope somehow I can get help with this one... Ok here goes:
I have a PTP (originally 225mhz) that Ive upgraded with a 400mhz G4 card... Ive also got an adaptec fast and wide PCI card driving 2, 16gb 10,000rpm seagate drives. The original 2GB drive is still in the machine. 512MB memory, internal Jaz drive, internal Zip, and Ive replaced the original CD-Rom drive with a Sony. I was running the orange micro dual USB & Firewire pci card, but I pulled it. I think Im running OS 9.1, which was first installed off the OS9 cd, then later updated with a downloaded 9.1 smi...This machine worked great for years! (well sort of) Well, it was running fine, then I started moving things around on the partitions... I cant remember what I did, I think I copied a system folder and then reselected the startup drive. Well it was running fine. Then I shut it all down and then left it for a couple weeks (I have a new iBook now, so Im not dependent on this thing) Well now the darn thing wont start-up! No Chime. Ive tried disconnecting everything but the original hard drive, pressing the cuda reset button. Ive checked all the cards and checked to make sure the RAM was seated. Everything powers up (sans chime) and then it just sits there pretending it is an expensive fan with a hi-tech heating element! I cant seem to get it to boot up from the CD-Rom drive either (even when it was working) See Ive been trying to get this thing into a streamlined, working set-up. It is because of problems like this that I retired the box, but it is still a workhorse, if I can only get the right combo of hardware and software... Man I feel like Dr. Frankenstein! I justwould love to be able to scream... ITS ALIVE!!!! Oh and I pulled the battery and replaced it too. I hope I didnt fry the CPU daughter card somehow... Thats the only thing I can think of (It happened once before...) HELP!?!@!$# Any suggestions out there...
