What a loaded question. <G> In CRT monitors my two favorites are Sony's 
Trinitron (expensive) and Viewsonic (reasonable price). I would love to 
buy one of Apple's new Cinema displays, but this damn 8 year old 
Trinitron refuses to quit working. It was original equipment with my 
PTP. I use an el cheapo, refurbished, Viewsonic on the resident pee cee 
and it has been pretty much indestructible for over 5 years.
