Certainly it can be upgraded. It is limited by it's system bus speed,
RAM capacity (512 max) and physical configuration versus a tower
design. A PTP is the best power computing candidate for upgrading form
the access and capacity standpoints, however, it still has that 50 MHz
bus.

If you figure you are going to add a processor upgrade, fill the RAM to
capacity and add a PCI card or two (upgraded video, firewire, USB,
etc.) and add a larger HD while you are at. You could easily spend
$150-400.00 using all new components. The cost would be less with
surplus or eBay components but then they are used.

I would start off by trying to answer the question of "What are the
minimum capabilities / features I want my computer to have?" Once you
can answer that, you can look at the option of adding/upgrading the
Power Center vs the cost of picking up a newer unit. There are some
pretty attractive prices out there on the G3's and early G4's.

It's mostly a matter of how much do you want to spend, and how much you
enjoy tweaking your computer?

I love my dual G4 MDD, but I also get a lot of intangible satisfaction
out of My upgraded PTP G3 still working well and running Jaguar.
