Not sure if the IDE drive controller will handle 2 devices but try hooking
your spare CD drive by setting it as 'slave' and make sure you have Apple
CD Drive 5.3.1 extension. Grinding noises emitted by CD drives are usually
traceable to a worn out felt pad on top that holds the CD centered in
place. Iodata has a CD-Rom SCSI bridge that adapts an IDE drive to your
SCSI bus - I use one with a Yamaha 20/10/40 CR2200E mounted externally.
