Was Just reading a MAC book, I just bought, "Upgrading & Trouble 
shooting your MAC" by Steinberg. It lists  various ways to work around 
this  with Ethernet or Mac TC/IP.

My Apple talk network has a HP 6MP laser printer, a Cannon Color 800 ink
jet printer (with Appletalk board), and a tractor feed check printer
(Image Writer II with an AppleTalk board). All serial port devices. 


 my eMac is ABD
& Firewire. I have these great printers that the eMac won't work with. 

If I could only Print checks from the eMac, every thing would be
simpler.
