Generic items (such as power supplies, fans and PCI boards) will generally cross over. However logic boards, daughter cards, processor boards, etc., may or may not.
I've never seen anyone bad mouth a Newer Tech daughter card on the list. So saying: on the PTP, the 500MHz G3 or a G4 should be just fine as is the sonnet 500MHz G3 or a G4 and the Power Logix G3 or G4 and the XLR8 G3 or G4. We all have our favorites. Sonnet is mine.

there have been cautions thrown out to me but no response to my questions? huh?
This so called "motherboard phenomenon" can you enlighten me? I've read some
threads in the PC archive, but I'm still concerned about making a MB purchase and
getting the wrong board. should I be concerned? I am putting a NewerTech G3/500 in it.
As I mentioned in my prior posts I have several other desktop machines that I use
for my work and such, I've acquired a PCPT Pro case with everything but a board, I'd like
to find one, build and dabble!!! I've email several of the vendors listed on "LEM" most
have responded favorably and some unfavorably (Price) One of those mentioned desktops
that I own was a Umax S900, the "parts" will go into this PCPT Pro.
I think I've been misunderstood or just left to "figure it all out" on my own, I'm not a
Newbie to computers just your PowerComputing machines, I want to learn more...

The problem with the bad motherboard is that if you put your NewerTech G3/500 in it
you would be unhappy...The story is that the bad motherboard does not take upgrades
to PowerPC 750...(I guess G4 as well). James
Thank's for your reply, but James all your doing is "Ranting" give me something to
"chew on" I've posted and you've given me nothing for a basis of making a sound
judgment on a logic board purchase or just understanding the platform.
I've received a lot of info, most of it "offlist" I now feel comfortable with making that
purchase. But I most say I'm disappointed with the threads I've recieved on this
topic of mine.
