This was in reference to the term for a gullible "fish" to be "Reeled In". It can be interchanged with Mark, John, Mooch, etc.

In the past, I've heard this term used by Pool, Tennis, Golf and Tiddlywinks Hustlers ... and other Con Men such as "Health Insurance salesmen".

Smoked herring (Kippers), I've heard of and eaten (though most certainly not as a breakfast side dish). This is first time I'd heard of a smoked mullet. "Smoked Mullet" ... Sounds more like the looser of a "Sand Bagged" Motorcycle Drag race.

Hair cut ? This codger is unaware of such a term for the trim and arrangement of "Head Foliage".

In its own way, the mullet is a noble fish and not at all deserving of such disparaging associations. Many fine working people have toiled on fueled only by fried, smoked or home-canned mullet. Or were you talking about the haircut?
