Go here:
http://www.macdrivermuseum.com/disk.shtml

Click on:
Apple's Universal CD ROM Driver 5.3.1 (60 k)

After downloaded, drag to your System Folder | Extensions (and drag out any
existing CD=type driver, aka, Apple CD/DVD Driver from OS 9.x; you can drag
it to the Extensions (Disabled) folder if you like).

Restart.

Should work.
