Seagate sells the drives on their site, but they are expensive. $100.00 +
for a decent size drive, but they are guaranteed. I've always wondered why
SCSI is so much higher priced than IDE drives. I assume they have to be
better or they wouldn't sell any at the prices they ask. I'm sure volume
sales help keep IDE prices low but not that much.
I have have good luck with SCSI drives, and bad luck with most of the IDE's
I have used. My PTP 250's original drive is the only SCSI I have had fail
out of all of my Macs. I have 5 vintage Macs and all of the original SCSI
drives are working, although they never have been run as hard as my PTP, but
they are much older nonetheless.
In my opinion used IDE drives are worthless and can't be counted on. Used
SCSI drives can last a long time for the money.
