thanks so much for the tip. I was able to find & download HD SC Setup 7.3.5, a patch for it, and ResEdit 2.1.3.

was wondering if anyone has tried this, with ResEdit or with the patch?
In addition to using ResEdit to work with HD SC Setup, there were several links that mentioned a patch for it.
I found directions to patch HD SC Setup using ResEdit that appear to be reliable, as they are quoted elsewhere also (see below).
but I'm a little concerned about the ResEdit warning ("can & will cause damage to your programs & data"). I have wiped the drive, so I won't lose anything, but I don't won't to cause damage or create a situation that can't be reversed if it doesn't work.

Thanks,
JT

Search google for the 7.3.5 hard drive format utility from apple and using resedit you can modify it to format any drive. Once you do that, then the newer disk utility should be able to repartition/format it.

I was previously running OS 8 on my PTP 200. I updated to OS 9. I tried to reformat the drive using the OS 9.0 retail disc, but couldn't. the drive(s) was previously formatted using Hard Disk Tool Kit.
