My setup: PTP with Sonnet Crescendo G3/450/1M OS: 9.2.2 -- soon to add Jaguar or Panther on a separate volume. Sonnet Tempo ATA133 card (just replaced a flaky Sonnet Tempo ATA66 card). Two Maxtor ATA drives (~80 G and ~120 G).
Everything above is working fine with one drive on each IDE bus. Problem is how to connect a LiteOn 52x32x52x E-IDE CD-RW drive. Questions: 1) If I make the CD-RW a Master and the HD on the same bus a Slave, will I be able to boot from the HD? 2) Can a drive set to Slave be connected to the cable at the far end from the card with the drive set to Master at the middle? Does it depend on the cable? 3) What happens if I set both drives on a bus to Cable Select? 4) Can I use my old ATA66 card (one bus on it works!) along with the ATA133 card? BTW, is there an easy way to tell a newer 80-wire IDE cable from an older 40-wire one? - Aaron -- Power Computing is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and... 123Inkjets.com <http://lowendmac.com/ad/123inkjets.html> Support Low End Mac <http://lowendmac.com/lists/support.html> Power Computing list info: <http://lowendmac.com/power/list.html> --> AOL users, remove "mailto:" Send list messages to: <mailto:[email protected]> To unsubscribe, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> For digest mode, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subscription questions: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> List archive: <http://www.mail-archive.com/powercomputing%40mail.maclaunch.com/> iPod Accessories for Less at 1-800-iPOD.COM Fast Delivery, Low Price, Good Deal www.1800ipod.com
