My PCPro Technical Information indicates that the cache chip is 3.3 v, whereas, I think I recall, those in Apple Macs are 5.0 v.
Neither will work in the other ... and PCC cache chips in a Mac may get 'blown'. There were, I also think I recall, some cache chips - retail versions - that could be switched ... aor maybe it was the computer that c/be switched. You can almost certainly find more and better information on PowerWatch <http://www.powerwatch.com/>. Hope this helps. > ---------------------------------------------------------------------- > Date: Fri, 12 Aug 2005 09:45:23 -0400 > From: Krow Magnum <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Subject: Re: PPC Cache Chips in PCI Macs - Update > > On 8/9/05, Krow Magnum <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > I'm playing with some old Macs I recently got ahold of, > > and I have two 1MB L2 cache DIMMs > > from a couple dead Power Computing PowerCenters. > > Should these work in a 7300, 7600, or 8600? > > Anybody know ? > > I don't want to find out the hard way that it won't work. > > ------------------------------------------ > > I tried a 1MB cache chip in my 7500 and it won't boot. > Another person tried a 1MB cache n their 7600 with the same results. > > I'll have to look to see if I have any 512k cache chips in my clone > collection to try in the 7500 and see what happens. > > Ron -- Power Computing is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and... 123Inkjets.com <http://lowendmac.com/ad/123inkjets.html> Support Low End Mac <http://lowendmac.com/lists/support.html> Power Computing list info: <http://lowendmac.com/power/list.html> --> AOL users, remove "mailto:" Send list messages to: <mailto:powercomputing@mail.maclaunch.com> To unsubscribe, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> For digest mode, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subscription questions: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> List archive: <http://www.mail-archive.com/powercomputing%40mail.maclaunch.com/> iPod Accessories for Less at 1-800-iPOD.COM Fast Delivery, Low Price, Good Deal www.1800ipod.com
