I don't understand what for a problem you have with that. You're anyway a public person and when I google your name, I get a tons of links. You run your own website etc...
Such a archive would be for technical information, nothing private. It's just for helping people getting started with PM and people were asking for such an archive already so often. gmane just offers a reasonable solution for the problem. Btw the old archive from ctmdv is also not password protected. It's not a common practice for technical lists. Look the Apple Mailing lists and I'm really glad I can search them. Saved me hours of work.
