Quite so. I'd got in a bit of a jam with lack of disk headroom, and had just bought a new firewire hard drive to back up to. I wanted to just copy the contents of my hard drives to it and be done, but I kept getting errors saying this and that file couldn't be copied for this and that reason (permissions, illegal filenames etc) so I started "tidying up".
