I was just wondering if someone with mail server expertise could explain
this. This is what I get first logging in to FIT's mail server:

>+OK X1 NT-POP3 Server mail-01.fitsuny.edu (IMail 8.21 7667-50)
>
>CAPA
>
>+OK Capability list follows
>TOP
>USER
>SASL LOGIN PLAIN
>RESP-CODES
>LOGIN-DELAY 120
>PIPELINING
>EXPIRE 30 USER
>UIDL
>IMPLEMENTATION Ipswitch_IMail_8.20
>.

I had been getting the message recently from PowerMail that there was "no
SMTP service" after sending messages hung on me (I guess it timed out).
Now when I try to send, it doesn't even tell me there's no SMTP service.
The messages just sit "Waiting..." in the Outbox. Is there something in
the above that I should instruct PowerMail to send differently (i.e. an
option I can configure in the Mail Accounts preferences)?

I suspect they may have removed SMTP entirely, but there's no chance of
getting that info out of the official department on that, at least not in
a timely manner.

Thanks!
Chris
