I disagree with this. It's not logical. What if someone wants to keep
certain spam messages, say those that were reported, in a separate
folder, not in the spam folder? Why should it follow that those messages
should be indexed, unless specifically set to?
I used to keep such a folder, so I know some people may want to.

I suppose this could be sorted out in the prefs, but I feel it's not an
expected result as it's not obvious this would happen when you move the
message.

May I guess that the reason you don't want to use the menu or shortcut is
because in this situation you prefer moving it by hand rather that with a
filter?
