Sounds like your Brother's PowerMail has confused Adobe Illustrator with
SpamSieve, so it tries to launch AI to filer the spam.
Or a 2nd possibility, PM wants to use AI as a spell checker? AI will of
course not work well for either of those functions. Maybe you can see if
this is th eproblem, and disconnect AI from PM.

Try going the PM Prefs,
Select the bottom item; "Mark As Spam".
Then push the button "Spam Filter Assistant..."
Click "Continue" then UNcheck all the boxes in the "Evaluate Spam"
window. (Especially the lower 3)

Maybe one of those has accidentally gotten linked to AI.

I'm not sure how to unlink a Word Services Spell checker. There only seem
to be a way to link to a Word Services spell checker, an no obvious way
to forget it. MAybe you'll need to set all prefs back to factory default
to zero that setting?

Hope this helps.

Best,
 Dave Nathanson
