The pros and cons of HTML mail are regularly (and heatedly) debated on this mailing list, but the short, blunt version is that if you need to *send* HTML email then PowerMail is not the email client for you, because it doesn't send HTML and probably never will.
As a plain text emailer, however, it is exemplary.
