IMHO, HTML-based modus operandi should take the backseat as PM isn't a HTML-centric email client. I don't really see why doubleclicking something that isn't a web page should give the expectations a web page gives. HTML mail OK, but not all messages. Also, preferences is the common and often useful way to please everybody. I can see the problem of changing default functionality this late in the ballgame, but shouldn't more things change towards the browsercentric behavioral model if this should be kept?
While I'm at it, I do think that URL-links in HTML messages should display the actual URL, either in the bottom of the message window á la Safaris status line or its small explanation messages in the tiny yellow note (whatever is the name) when you hover over the link (as is common in many apps). To have the possibililty of links hiding their actual destination is a real security risk. It should be addressed promptly. PM 5.2.1 | OS X 10.3.6 | Powerbook G4/400 | 768 MB RAM | 30 GB HD
