I disagree with that blanket statement. I find PM very stable, but I had one irrecoverable situation when my old machine suddenly stopped (not froze, just physically stoppped), because of heat problems, while writing to the DB . I'm not sure how many DB apps could recover from that. I haven't heard that Mail is so stable as you suggest for keeping all data intact, but I suppose the one message one file concept helps a bit. What's really needed is a built in incremental backup feature. I tried to write a script, but found no way of moving between folders, so the only way would be to export only on basis of date.
