I'd like to re-iterate a request that is related to the "View Unread"
option in the View menu:

Could we please have some better indication in the message summary
placard (lower left of message list where it says "29 messages, 3
unread", "5 messages selected", etc.) which makes it painfully obvious
that we are viewing ONLY the un-read messages, AND THAT there are ONE OR
MORE read messages in the folder which simply can't be seen.

This view mode, while useful in some situations, has also caused people a
lot of problems/confusion (as evidenced by traffic on this list). I have
an occasion now where I wish to employ this mode on a particular folder
(so that I can see and read/delete new messages from a mailing list,
while retaining certain older messages out of view) but I am going to
keep myself from turning it on, since I am almost positive that I will
forget there are other messages in the folder.

Two suggestions:

- add an eyeball icon or something to the left of the placard text, so as
to provide a visual cue that the view mode is unusual.
- add some additional text like "(35 hidden)" following the placard text.

Thoughts?
