Ditto.

I had originally wanted a proper threading routine but to my surprise
found it wasn't necessary.  I find that automatically sorting into
relevant folders does the trick for me.  The built-in search option in
the icon bar deals with the grouping.  Or I can briefly sort by subject.

I must admit that although I get a good deal of e-mail, it is nothing
compared to some on this list who use PM extensively for their business.
 I don't know if my answers would change in that situation.

As far as keeping it slim, I have only two longstanding desires for PM:
    A proper logging of events (including an explanation of the error codes
    A preferred "signature" field in the address book records
