This has been happening to me quite a few times, always when using keyboard shortcuts and jumping to the next operation quite quickly:
open a folder
loop
select all
move messages to trash
open another folder
end loop
PowerMail suddenly crashes (quit)
using PM 5.1b3 - G5 1.8 bipro
