I'm using PowerMail 5.01. So far it's really very good. I really love the
AppleSpell functions! I just right-click on the underlined misspelled
word(s) and the pop up menu offers the corrections. Cool! :-) SpamSieve
is working well too.
I have some suggestions to improve PowerMail ever further. I hope that
the Dev team will take these into consideration, as I have taken the time
to try to communicate clearly & thoughtfully.
1) The right-click (or control-click) pop up menu in list views should
let me file messages in folders, apply colored labels, and mark as spam/
not spam.
2) The Out Tray should appear in bold when there are Drafts saved but not
sent yet.
3) Messages saved as Drafts should be Bolded in list view. (I do
appreciate that drafts stay date-sorted at the top. That's great.)
4) I'd like an easy way to trigger certain mail collection schedules
immediately.
5) In List view, I would like the option of seeing not only the sender's
name, but their email address too.
6) When I address a message to a predefined group, it just shows the
group name. I have to save, close & open the message to see all the
people it's really addressed to. A possibly better way might be to have a
disclosure triangle by the group name so I can either spin it open to
display all the people this message is addressed to, or keep it closed to
show only my group name.
7) I'm getting really sick of the double-click in list view causing the
newly opened message to minimize. This is a bug. Even if I move the
window, it seems to happen again & again. The cure is probably to make
sure that the 2 clicks are not passed to the newly opened window after
the fact.
User Tip:
Pressing "return" as you curse loudly brings the minimized window
back up.
8) In the Folder List; It would be better if the user could click not
just letters of the folder name, but a larger area that is a horizontal
stripe. Short folder names are a small target.
9) The "Text Clippings" are great. Can we get user-defined keyboard
shortcuts for them please?
10) The toolbar for list view needs to have a pull down menu for filing
in folders, just like the single message view does.
11) The addition of an error log would be useful when problems occur.
12) Why is the folders menu dimmed when in single message view? I want to
make a new folder, then file this message in it. How about adding "new
folder" to the bottom of the "File in:" menu? Or enable the "New Folder"
submenu at all times?
Best,
Dave Nathanson
