FWIW, I have a big database, 500MB recently compressed, w/ perh 80,000 or
more messages. I often read my mail by mounting a disk over the network,
and opening the database on that disk. Due to whatever cause (sometimes
my mistake, sometimes something unavoidable), I have probably "pulled the
plug" on Powermail--disconnecting the server machine without closing the
file first--perhaps 20 times. This is a big Bozo No No for databases of
any type, and regularly leads to corruption.

I have experienced no corruption, nor hints of strange behavior, in
Powermail, making me think that the database engine is extraordinarily
robust, much more robust than say, FileMaker 6 or Quicken. Filemaker 6 in
particular is well known to suffer corruption when you "pull the plug."

When I started w/ Powermail about 2 years ago, I looked at Mail and
Entourage. Both seemed to choke when fed 50,000 emails or so, so I chose
Powermail. And that was with a different database engine in the earlier
version of Powermail.
