Ok, thanks. But this is too vague. That I missed it is enough to sustain
that IMHO, as I just went over the complete app in detail. Most people
don't do this.
What's missing is my earlier suggestion "out of [xx]" or something
conveying the same information. So if there were 4 messages displayed the
line could say: "4 messages out of 67 displayed" or similar. Or "4
messages of 67" as displayed is really unnecessary. After all, the fact
that the messages are displayed is quite obvious or how would you else
see them? 
So the line suggested would even be shorter and most importantly make a
clearer point/hint to the user that there are messages that are not visible.

Coming to think of it, this line is more or less what we see in the
connection info in the background processes window. So why just there?

This is problem is even more important to solve, when you have "View
Unread" activated, as this is easily forgotten.
