My advice as far as returning to a specific point just prior to the
import process would be to make a copy of your powermail files folder and
do all your import experiments on that. If you need to undo the imports
then just throw away that folder and make a fresh copy from your
untouched original.

I wold also advise not sending or receiving fresh email until you've
finished the import process (otherwise you'll have messages that exist in
one copy but not in the other), so turn of scheduled checking, including
the 'check mail at launch' option. Do this before making the copy of the
folder, otherwise those settings will only apply to the copy of the PM
Files Folder that you are currently using.

I'm sure I've just been very confusing, but hey...
