But this is actually a bug. The messages that were in the trash before
the upgrade to version 5 should be considered as moved to the trash on
the date they were received, but it does not work. Thus, these messages
can either be deleted before the N days delay, or they can be left in the
trash after the N days, maybe even indefinitely (until you empty the
trash completely).
Rebuilding the sort indices (by launching PM with the command and options
keys and checking the corresponding checkbox) should fix this (if the
messages have not yet been deleted of course).
