Sorry, I can't help. For probably a year I had this problem, then it went away after following the procedure that I described. This seems to be an obscure bug in PowerMail, and there is no evidence that the developers are interested in tracking it down.
FWIW, I would have been happy to help find the bug, but since it has disappeared on my machine, I suspect there is little I can do to help.
