...and yes, it appears that the sleeping problem was related to RamDoubler. I'm using VM right now, and sleeping seems to work fine with indexing on while in PowerMail. I was originally using RamDoubler to save disk space, but I have upgraded the 750Mb drive originally in my Powerbook to 20Gb. Thanks for the suggestion. -- Don V.
