I agree with you. But on the other hand: if this forking out does happen you cannot win anyway. And my guess is that Aladdin will not actively develop Zip on the Mac platform as they set their goals on SitX there. And if the embedded zip format in the engine is "legacy 2003" that will be compatible for a very long time!
