Now that I've been using PowerMail for a few months, and have a bit of time, I decided to discover what's possible with AppleScripts.
As Andy recently mentioned, it would really be helpful to be able to change the view of the message folders. The more I attempt to create a few AppleScripts, the more I realize that that was an understatement. There are many tasks that just are crippled at the start without being able to toggle View All and View Unread. To manually set the view for each folder when it's required for multiple-folder actions is a tremendously frustrating task - I currently have 60 folders. Having QuicKeys is only slightly helpful. When I was using Emailer, I had created several AppleScripts that inserted text wherever the insertion point was in the body of the partially composed outgoing message. In my attempts to do so with PowerMail, I could only replace all of the message content or the first/ last paragraph. Am I totally missing the syntax? I can't use the text clippings or modify the clipboard and the data to insert is in a text- containing variable. I could extract all the text, manipulate the text in another application and re-insert, or create a new message and manipulate bit by bit, but these methods are both clumsy. Is there a keyboard shortcut for moving a file to another folder? The only method I've found is to drag the message, which I think is quite awkward. A keyboard shortcut that popped up a list of folders, allowed use of arrow keys and typing the first few letters of the folder would be such a benefit. Is there any way to know whether messages are currently being downloaded without specifically staring at PowerMail? I don't want to start some AppleScripts for moving messages or deleting them if there's a possibility that my data might be compromised or inaccurate. The ability to perform scripts with the schedules would be great. Any thoughts or info about previously discussed solutions would be appreciated. I realize that some of these issues may have been addressed before I joined this mailing list.
