Mike, I never experienced any mayor problems with the database. Neither in v3 nor in v4. Did you have considered that you might have a problem with your hard-disc? As it was necessary to do several low level rebuilds, I don't think this is a database issue. I guess you have a hardware problem and that one you won't solve by changing the mail client.
