I'm on 5.5.1 and it is not a problem. In fact, like you, I got the bold In Tray with nothing in it. I am able to invoke the first aid by holding down Cmd+Opt BEFORE even launching PM from the Dock (i.e., clicking on the Dock icon) with no problems. --Ira
