I recently signed up for T-mobile Web and am trying to connect via the
bluetooth modem on my cell phone. Everything works as advertised,
except for Powermail. To get email, Tmobile sets up a pop-server called
myemail.t-mobile.com which acts as a bridge to my real email servers.
Supposedly, mail clients can then check mail using the following account
configuration:

POP server: myemail.t-mobile.com
SMTP server: myemail.t-mobile.com
User account: [my-mobile-phone-number]:n where n is a digit assigned by
t-mobile for each email address I add.
Password: the real email password on the real mail server

I created a new account Powermail with this information, but when I try
to connect to download mail, I get the following: Hostname "myemail.t-
mobile.com" not found during DNS lookup

However, nslookup is able to find the correct IP address, and replacing
the hostname with the IP address generates the same error.

Apple mail works and is able to connect and download the mail.

Does anyone know how to get Powermail to work for this kind of connection?

Thanks,
jrh

I used to use T-Mobile with PM without problems - basically I did
nothing special, just setup to go via Bluetooth to my computer and then,
once the internet connection was established (visible in the Internet
Connect panel), to use PM as usual.

Subject: Combine emails

Does anybody have an applescript that will combine several received
emails into a single "Digest" suitable for forwarding?

Basically I want to forward a thread of email list discussion to someone
to catch them up. If I were to do it manually, I would probably "Fwd"
each email (to preserve short headers) , then select all, copy & paste
that into the new message, add a line of "==========" and repeat until
all selected messages were taken care of in date order. (Oldest on top).

Any suggestions or scripts?
Or should I just do it manually?

Best,
 Dave N

Thanks Marlyse - I didn't even try to use it as usual since the tech
support site (and one tech support phone rep) insisted it wouldn't work
and I had to jump through special hoops using T-mobile's pop server.
But I just tried it and you are right. If I ignore the special settings
and just let PM work as usual, it connects fine for sending and receiving.

So much for RTFMing!

The main problem with T-Mobile and all the tech support is that they are
all PC oriented and actually know nothing about Mac's... in general.
Also, there is a difference between using the $5 WAP-Web service and the
$30 Internet Connect (data) service. Originally I was even able to
connect to the web just fine with the cheap solution (browser and mail)
but T-Mobile closed that line after they realized what many people did.
Though I still was able to receive and send email via PM, I just could
no longer browse the internet (which mostly was fine with me :-) -
"[EMAIL PROTECTED]" is like an additional account if I remember correctly
and I never used it.

Good that it works for now for you!
