I have to agree with some of the earlier comments, that this does not
really feel like an update that justifies bumping up the version number
to 6. However, that has not stopped me getting the update.

No print preview
PM does not display a preview of the printout in the Print dialog. Now
that it supports HTML mail, this would be useful. Most applications can
show a preview, with only some cross-platform applications failing to do
so. A preview is especially useful if you are printing out a message hat
includes several messages-worth of quoted messages. You can easily check
how many pages you need to print out.

Growl notices
The Growl notifications for new mail are useful, but I find it annoying
that they are persistent. They do not fade away as most such
notifications do. I think they should only be displayed persistently if
there is an error message. (I have audio notifications in PM for most
important mail, so the Growl notifications are only really useful for me
when I have the sound muted.)

Looks to me like a bug ... pm6 is still beta ;-)

That's growl settings, which you can adjust in the system preferences.
I also see some issues with growl - it sometimes just hangs, but the
notifications do fade out.

Do you still have the growl script installed for pm5?
If so, try removing that one and see, if it solves the problem

You can configure Growl, from the system preferences, to have different
settings for each application, and for each notification type for a
given application. You can set it to fade new mail, and to stick error
messages, for example.

Searches with FoxTrot are just instantaneous and you can view them in

Hi all,

One more thing for the PM6 interface department. Wouldn't it be nice to
have an (iTunes/Finder) sidebar? The folder sidepane screams for this
Leopard touch. I just noticed there is a separate Folder List window
too. Does anyone use this? :)

Thanks for the Growl support!

Don't know if this is important or not.

My settings:
Enable HTML reader
Prefer HTML when plain test is available

All messages opened fine except one from MacUser UK. Everytime I tried
to open it PM crashed whether I was in 2 pane or 3 pane mode. But I was
able to view the quoted message by clicking on reply.

When Enable HTML reader was deselected the message opened without a crash.

My question: if I maintain Enable HTML reader in my preferences will
certain messages occasionally crash PM ? Or is this a bug ?

Thanks for any advice

Irene

A bug was introduced in 6.0b2 when displaying HTML messages with invalid
UTF8 data. Please, send me privately a crash log, to verify if it is the
same bug.

I've had this problem for years. It doesn't happen often (maybe 3-4
times a year) so it's more of a nuisance than a significant issue. In my
case, the message never seems to be important, so I just execute the
script "Delete Message Immediately."

I believe the cause is faulty HtML, but I don't have any details.
