I just had the pleasure of reinstalling Mac OS 10.5 and all my
applications on my Powerbook. Among the frustrations encountered is the
following:

I recently upgraded my Powermail to the beta v 6 to see if I liked it.
When I reinstalled PowerMail 6 and registered it with a PM 5
registration code, I found that it would neither send nor receive mail
because it was over the 1,000 email limit. So I guess ctm wants me to
spend $62 in order to beta-test their program? I don't think so.

I'm back at PM 5 now.

The upgrade from 5 is $29.15.

And fairly priced at that--but I do not pay money to test beta software.

Alan,

Sorry to hear about your trouble with reinstalling your box.
I backup all my data on a daily bases with SuperDuper! and this was very
helpful already.

well then simply use a test environment.
Once converted, you can't downgrade your database anymore.
It's a decision you have to make for yourself.

I just can assure you, that in daily live PM6 works very well and PM6
increased in speed a lot compared to PM5.

all the best

may I suggest to change the default settings in a way, that
notifications for new mails just fade away and that errors do stay on
the screen.

I also get 2 notifications, one for each mail and a summary
notification. It might be that the second one comes from SpamSieve.

Thanks and all the best

Matthias

I just realized, that I get 2 notifications for each mail .... and
notifications for SpamSieve are switched off.
So how can I get rid of the second notification?

thanks and all the best

If you are not a PowerMail user and download 6.0 beta, you have the
1,000 messages limit. But if you first install PowerMail 5 and register
it, then upgrade to 6.0 beta, 6.0 beta will still be in demo mode for 30
days, but without the 1,000 messages limit.

PowerMail does not send a notification for each message, but a single
notification when all messages have been received. Maybe you have a
filter to display an alert for every message?

If we were dealing with a software giant like Microsoft or Adobe, I'd agree.

Hello,

I'm using PowerMail for several years now and I'm quite happy with it (I
use POP3 most times and IMAP on my iPhone). I use folders and filters to
store messages of different accounts. I keep PM open all the time. So
it's easy for guests to accidentally see messages just by clicking on
the folder icon in PM.

Just for privacy, I'd like to password protect the display of certain
folders. It doesn't need to be super secure or encrypted (that would be
gold standard, however), just a barrier against accidental peeks. Is
such a folder planned? Would be coolio!

Just continue the good work,

Joerg

why don't you use a password for unlocking the screensaver?

Besides that, I'm not sure if this would make sense for other PM users.

Anyway cool e-mail domain ;-)

with the present PM: change user environment? or close the database? Or
maybe even simpler, use Spaces to handle a second screen, and get PM
open on that screen?
In such a case I believe 99% of users won't even think about getting to
the second screen (all the more as you can change the keyboard shortcut
and not announce them in the menubar)

Good ideas, what I do when I have to share my machine (which is rare) I
create a "guest" account, put password screen saver on and train
everyone to go to the guest account if they want to use the machine.

Not only don't they see what you are doing (even if you don't care) more
important, nobody can mess things up by accident.

If a folder attributes enhancement is planned, I'd really like to see
filter like rules that apply to specific folders, the vast majority of
my rules are just filing rules to put messages into my 30 or so high
frequency folders...yes, the current system works, but having 100 rules
makes it hard to manage them, by splitting them out it makes it easier
to manage....

Still...other than the continued random crashes (no better than v5), I'm
very happy with Powermail....
