Dear Sir, Madam,

For a view years I have been using PowerMail. And I am very happy with it,
but it has been a while since PowerMail has been updated.
So I wonder what the future is going to be of PowerMail.
A lot of things work fine but I see other mail applications develop along with
LinkedIn, Gmail, DropBox and the HTML rendering engines, the OSX looks and
grouping e-mail messages with the same subject.

Can you tell me if there are any future plans with PowerMail? And what the
plans are, and if there are new updates/new version are planned.
Like I said, PowerMail is working fine, but there are some things that can
develop along with the new features of OSX and other parties.

The e-mail applications I get these information from are : Sparrow, Postbox.
These are quite new applications.
And if you would implement some of their functions it would be a great update
and gives a leading role in e-mail applications I think.
When you try top find alternative e-mail applications for the mac, PowerMail is
not mentioned, and that is quite a shame.

I hope I can get an answer here, because I tried several e-mail addresses and
forms to contact CTMDEV

Hope to hear from you.

Kind regards

Koen

P.S. When I create a new mail, it always displays it in plain text. Can it be
set to default as Rich text or HTML format?

Koen,

PM is a pure text based MUA for the MacOS.
There's a new a new beta version available, which fixes some Lion bugs and will
be compatible with 10.8.
The version can be found here:
    <http://powermail.simplenet.com/pm6.1.1b2.dmg>
Grouping E-Mail is available since quite some time in PM and PM has the best
search engine of all mail clients I know of.
GMail also works with PM as well as html rendering, you just can't compose
mails with html, it'll be always text.

If you need html composing and more funky stuff you might want to use another
MUA.
The same is valid if you need to have simultaneous access to several mail
accounts with IMAP.
If you need POP only PM is imho still the best MUA for the Mac :-)

I still hope CTMDEV will change the IMAP implementation in the near future.
That's actually my no1 feature request ... Jerome are you listening ^_^

cheers
Matthias

Hi Matthias, (and Jerome?)

Thanks for a nice answer :)
On most things I do really agree what you say. :)
I have tried Postbox, but it was not satisfactory enough. And when I asked
about features that loved on PM I got an answer from them, but not very
supporting.

The search engine is indeed very good!
And the file size of the PM folder stays small. Love that!

How can I group my messages? Or is that the view thread option when
CTR+Clicking on the message?
But can the text window be set to rich text as default?

The rendering from other HTML messages would be a nice bug-fix. I remembered
when (i thought) 6.1 or 6.0 was released that they would fix the HTML render
feature.
This because some mail messages appear nicely, but some of them do not, or only
appear when I open them in a separate window.

Cheers

Koen
