I am having problems getting PowerMail to connect to Gmail (via POP) when using
Google's application-specific passwords that are part of its 2-step
verification process.

I have successfully connected once, but subsequent connections seem to be
ignored.

Any suggestions on how to eliminate any traces of the old password, from PM and
Apple's KeyChain (if needed) so I can reset the password.

No problems here so far, on OS X 10.7.5 (13" MacBook, 2008)

I have a problem with copying text from PowerMail into FileMaker. It copies,
but no text is pasted. I can drag and drop from PowerMail though. No problems
pasting into FileMaker from other apps.

Pasting into other apps (for example Notes) from PowerMail is slow.

Using Mountain Lion  v10.8.4

You go to the keychain and delete all entries for Powermail.
